Neuschwanstein Castle/Munich

Today we began our trek south with a stop at the Neuschwanstein Castle and finally ending the day with dinner in Munich before checking into the hotel. We have the pleasure of experiencing Germany's coldest Spring recorded according to our tour guide, Claudia. It felt like we were right back home in Wisconsin with the snow and cold temperature. Even with the chill we are all enjoying the new sights, sounds, tastes and everything else that goes along with traveling to new places.

Neuschwanstein Castle was awesome! It looks as if it came directly out of a fairytale. When we all piled out of the bus we had the opportunity to grab lunch (Curry sausage for myself...delicious!). Some students did a bit of souvenir shopping before climbing up the mountain. And yes, I did just say mountain! It was a long, snowy journey to the top but it was well worth the effort. After a tour of the unfinished castle, some continued to hike farther up the mountain to Marienbrücke (Mary's Bridge) to get an amazing view before going back to the bus. We arrived in Munich around 6pm, took a short walk to where we ate dinner and just checked into out hotel about an hour ago where we will be staying for two nights. As expected, it has been another great day! Tomorrow we will go to the Concentration Camp Memorial Site in Dachau, have free time to sight-see in Munich, shop and of course eat load of yummy foods!

As you can see in the pictures, we need to work on keeping out eyes open! But what about that view of the castle??? I don't care how foggy it was or how much snow was falling, you can't complain about a view like that!

For those of you who feels the need to connect with anyone on the tour, you can leave comments or messages on this blog after any of the posts! I do pass it on to them!

  2. Hi Andrea, My dad wants my mom (Dianne) to know he is following your trip. He checks daily; loves reading/seeing the pictures. He's been to Europe several times with the military.

*Logging into blogger and leaving a comment, for him, is a different story...LOL :)

    Thanks!
